The highest of pleasures at 2675 m – at the Rettenbach Glacier Restaurant

Wintersport enthusiasts can look forward to a new culinary experience in Sölden. There is literally no missing the huge new restaurant at 2675 m in the Rettenbach glacier ski area.

The self-service restaurant has 400 seats inside and 400 seats outside; the “Gletschertisch” restaurant with table service has 90 seats inside and 50 seats outside; and the “Gletscherspalte” après-ski bar has 50 seats inside. All right next door to the Europa Test & Exhibition Center, home to leading representatives of the winter sports industry. The Rettenbach Glacier Restaurant was also completed remarkably quickly, from demolition of the old building on 29 April 2017 and to the opening of the new restaurant on 27 October 2017. Everything had to run like Swiss clockwork - according to Willi Riml, who has racked up a lot of experience of new buildings and renovation in Sölden.

“The new building was needed to create shorter paths and a new experience for our guests.” The alpine furnishings in stone and wood were a natural choice, a sign of solidarity with the region.

The menu in the self-service restaurant offers traditional Austrian delicacies, from apple strudel to fried beef and onions in gravy. The pizza station is a particular favourite, constantly producing fresh pizzas - a real sensation for the senses that does its own advertising. The burger grill and the fresh salads from the salad bar round off the menu.

The à-la-carte “Gletschertisch” restaurant is a feast for the eyes and tastebuds. (Ski) guests can sit back, relax and enjoy the panoramic view from the windows over the Ötztal and its mountains. The kitchen really focuses on being the very best, where traditional dishes are reinterpreted.

The kitchen equipment aims at nothing less. At the forefront is the Salvis Pressure Steamer Vitality Pro - a workhorse for preparation and pressure at peaks times. Reducing cooking times by up to 70% is always great, but the certainty that you can reproduce that performance at all times is a real weight off a chef's shoulders.

At the heart of the à-la-carte restaurant is the Salvis VisionPRO cooker. The flush-installed cooking technology and H2 base unit are child's play to clean and full-surface induction delivers the power that is needed. Visually, it is also the centrepiece with 4100x800mm of Swiss precision.

The opening on 27 October 2017 to coincide with the start of the Ski World Cup Opening 2017 was the toughest possible endurance test - processes, equipment and employees were all put through their paces. The organisers pronounced it a great success in the bright sunshine. More than 14,500 visitors were on site and over 2500 people were fed at the various restaurants between midday and 2pm.

For installation, Salvis can always rely on its strong partners in the region. Falkner & Riml from Längenfeld (Austria) specialise in electrical and kitchen installations. A contact on site is the best recipe for success - providing 24-hour customer service in an emergency. Electric and commercial kitchen installation from a single source for more than 28 years.
